Description
The Johnny Appleseed Deck is inspired by the American Folk Hero and American Pioneer, Johnny Appleseed (aka John Chapman). Chapman was a conservationist and outdoorsman who planted apple orchards in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ontario and West Virginia. He also sold apple seeds to pioneers who were trying to settle in the Wild West.
The Johnny Appleseed Deck is a classical and tasteful design that is also extremely playable for any card game. It is printed by Shuffled Ink Playing Cards in the U.S.
The face cards incorporate an older set of standard court characters.
Each court card includes either a whole apple, a half apple, a male Cardinal or a female Cardinal, plus a watermark of a vine pattern (red for Hearts and Diamonds – green for Clubs and Spades). Cardinals are included because John Chapman was known for his love of animals.
The Jokers feature an engraving style drawing of Johnny Appleseed / John Chapman.
The back card and tuck box for the Johnny Appleseed Deck feature an engraving style apple tree drawing and the green vines pattern that’s also present in the court cards. The Johnny Appleseed Deck is a perfect companion for any game night!
